SPINNING THE PUBLIC INTO VOTES

SPINNING THE PUBLIC INTO VOTES

It’s that time again where by it is nearly the end of the year and political parties are starting to prepare to campaign for the 2014 national elections in the country. Different political parties use different methods that work for them to create awareness for their political brand but the main thing these party do is using spin doctor tactics and social media tools to win the elections. These political parties hire spin doctors to advise them on how to use propaganda, persuasion and manipulation so people can vote for them.

Social media tools used by Public Relations Practitioners

Politicians use social media like Facebook, twitter, websites and blogs as a perfect platform to interact with the target publics and portray their brand in a positive way. In these accounts they interact with people and comment on posts so that it seems they care about people’s needs so that people can vote for them.
Public Relations Tools

They use press releases, organise press conferences and organise rallies  to create a hypodermic needle effect to gain popularity and create awareness for they brand whereby they tell people about how they can change the nation by providing free education, creating jobs and enriching the economy of the country. This politicians gain intrinsic credibility in they speeches because the Public Relations Practitioner that is hired tell them to dress like the people they will be addressing and in the speech talk about how he or she is just an ordinary person just like the people they delivering they speech to and how they can change the country if people vote for they political brand. This basically means the politicians must not contradict his his or her  verbal and nonverbal messages what you say must seem creditable based on your appearance and personality. The media’s role in the elections lays in the agenda setting  as they provide information to us about the different political parties available and it is up to the public to decide which political party they think will change the nation.
